Refund & Returns Policy

Welcome to The Books Online. We value your support as a reader and want to ensure you have a transparent experience when shopping with us. If you are not entirely satisfied with your purchase, we are here to assist.

1. Digital Products (eBooks & Audiobooks)

Due to the instant nature of digital delivery, digital products are generally non-refundable once the download link has been clicked or the file has been delivered to your cloud library.

  • Technical Issues: If you encounter a technical defect (such as a corrupted file or missing chapters) that prevents you from reading the book, please contact our support team within 7 days. If we are unable to provide a functional replacement file, we will issue a full refund.

  • Accidental Purchase: We understand that “one-click” buying can lead to mistakes. If you purchased a digital title by accident, you may request a refund within 24 hours, provided our system shows the file has not been downloaded or opened.

  • Incompatibility: It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure their device supports the file formats provided (e.g., PDF, EPUB). Refunds will not be granted for device incompatibility unless specifically stated otherwise.

2. Physical Books

For customers purchasing hardcovers, paperbacks, or physical media, the following terms apply:

  • Return Window: You have 14 calendar days from the date of delivery to initiate a return.

  • Condition for Return: To be eligible, the book must be unused, free of spine creases or marks, and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.

  • Return Shipping: Customers are responsible for paying their own shipping costs for returning items. Shipping costs are non-refundable. If you receive a refund, the cost of the original shipping will be deducted from your total.

  • Restocking Fee: Please note that a small restocking fee may apply to high-value items or bulk orders (5+ books) to cover processing and inspection.

3. Damaged, Defective, or Wrong Items

If your order arrives damaged (e.g., water damage, torn covers, or crushed boxes) or if we sent the wrong title:

  • Please notify us within 48 hours of delivery.

  • Include your order number and clear photos of the damage or the incorrect item.

  • Upon verification, we will provide a prepaid return label and send a replacement at no cost to you, or issue a full refund including original shipping charges.

4. Subscription Memberships

If you are a member of a recurring reading or “Book of the Month” plan:

  • Cancellations: You may cancel your subscription at any time via your account dashboard.

  • Refund Policy: We do not offer pro-rated refunds for partial months or unused credits. However, you will retain access to all subscription features and previously claimed content until the end of your current billing period.

  • Automatic Renewals: It is the customer’s responsibility to cancel before the renewal date. Refund requests made after a renewal has processed will only be considered if no benefits (credits or books) were claimed during that new cycle.

5. Gifts and Sale Items

  • Sale Items: Only regular-priced items may be refunded. Items marked as “Final Sale” or “Clearance” are non-refundable unless they arrive damaged.

  • Gifts: If the item was marked as a gift when purchased and shipped directly to you, you’ll receive a gift credit for the value of your return. Once the returned item is received, a digital gift certificate will be emailed to you.

6. How to Initiate a Return or Refund

  1. Order Number (found in your confirmation email).

  2. Product Title(s) you wish to return.

  3. Reason for Return (please be specific so we can improve our service).

7. Refund Processing

Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item and whether the refund has been approved. If approved, your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your original method of payment within 5–10 business days.
